56 Social Sites - Be Social

With the rise of social media and social networking sites, it has become of utmost importance to get out there and participate in order to be known and heard. Reading blogs and online sites can boost your knowledge in terms of what’s out there, but sometimes traditional methods of gaining knowledge can be very valuable as well. I subscribe to a lot of magazines besides reading blogs and articles online which has cerainly helped me gather knowledge and information regarding new services and sites. I subscribe to a magazine called ” website magazine ” which has been a very valuable source of information for me in every aspect of my online life.
I recently got my hands on the November issue and it had a list of social sites which inspired me to compile them here in this post from the magazine and some from my favorites folder. So here it is, an exhaustive list of social sites for you to try your hands on and network and promote every aspect of your online life while meeting new people. And who said the list always has to be in increments of 10? We will end this one on 56. Enjoy!
The number in the parenthesis next to the link represents the PR of each social site ( Please note that the list is not in order in terms of popularity or usability, every site has its own importance as the user sees it )

I went in there and checked and it did have inappropriate content. I had no idea they would publish content like that otherwise I would have never listed it here in the first place. So the site is off the list and off my use )

So there you go, hopefully this list will give you something to try your hands on this weekend. Hope this post introduced you to some new social sites for you to explore. Also while you are busy socializing on the web do not forget ” word of mouth ” still is one of the best ways of marketing yourself. And there is a social life outside the net, so go ahead and be social in your offline life as well. Balancing online and offline life is very crucial for the survival of both you and your site or blog. I need to work on that and hopefully you will too.
I can’t help but wonder if we really need all the social media outlets available. I have a hard enough time just staying active on StumbleUpon.
So…..the website Rojo in your list of social sites has porn on the front page right now. Just thought you might want to know.
Dylan, thanx for letting me know. It is a RSS and atom feed site and last time I checked, it didn’t have that. I have taken that off the list.
Once again anyone who checked that site out I sincerely apologize as that site is supposed to be an atom and rss feed site and I had no idea they would publish images and content like that.

Does anyone know of a list of social media sites that give you a backlink to articles that you submit?
Yes, overload for sure. I’m struggling with about 20 of them. Is it really necessary to have 56?

You might want to change the Mister Wong link to the english site rather then letting it hit the German site - basically a lot of the comments there will be in German and the English crowd might feel more comfortable with .com
@Fiar true, but then again, each one is done a bit different and while you might like one site, you may hate the next. So something for everyone.

As for Mister Wong I lsted the orginal link. For anybody who wants to use the english version please use the “englisch” button on the top right
And the one to rule them all- 8hands, which aggregates social networks and allows you to IM and share media with all of your friends from a single access point.
