A search engine that finds you

Here is a search engine that literally finds you. Spock, which is still in its BETA version is a people search engine built to dig your information out from the internet. I personally am not very keen on these kind of services as it just seems like it kind of takes the privacy out of people’s lives.

When I typed my name in the search box, I got three results matching my name and spock pulled out my MySpace information.

Although its something that might be helpful for students and professionals to find information on peoples biography and that sort of things, I personally am not very fond of this service. But I do recognize the application of this service is useful – it all depends who is in front of the screen using this service.

  1. Hi Ritu!

As you mention, privacy control on people search engines is an important matter.
I am working for Ziki, a fast growing (20K members) people search engine destinated to increase its user’s online visibility, especially by offering free registration of their names within the main search engines (Google, Yahoo!, MSN) and content networks.
The privacy of our members is extrememly important for us. They can control every informationthat our search engine publishes for other members.
