Boost Sales With Personalized Marketing
Hi! It seems you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! Feel free to leave comments on posts!
Let’s talk about marketing a little today. This post is directed towards product and service marketing but if you tweak the information here a little, I am sure it can be applied in blogging as well.
Without a marketing strategy it is hard to gain the exposure you deserve. Whether it’s a blog or a billion dollar company, a marketing strategy is critical to tap into your target market and create the anticipation and desire among the readers and buyers. Without an effective strategy your business is like a cake without icing, it’s got the substance but no flavor to it.
That being said, I just wanted to focus on one most important aspect of marketing - Personalized marketing and it’s benefits. Let’s explore how personalized marketing can gain momentum for your business or firm.
Why Personalized Marketing?
If you were to get a pamphlet from walmart, what would you like to see? If you are a guy most probably hardware and gadgets and all that good stuff. And if you are a female you probably want to look at the beauty products. There is no point in sending a pamphlet full of tools and wrenches to a female who barely ever uses them. Most companies don’t realize the importance of personalized marketing and fail to deliver the importance of their products to their target market.
Personalization gives the buyer a sense of satisfaction as it already seems to cater to their needs before they commit to purchase. Customers are looking for information on what to buy and what the benefits are. Your personalized marketing will cater exactly to their needs if you have studied that particular prospect, hence boosting your conversion substantially.
On What basis should you personalize?
Most of the business today thrive online. Since this post mostly focuses on internet entrepreneurs I am going to talk more in respect to the web marketing techniques. Some of the ways we market our products and services are through newsletters, email campaigns, direct mailing and so on. Let’s take an example,
Mr. X runs a business that sells electronic products and his inventory includes items that fulfill the needs of both male and female gadget lovers. Mr. Y purchases an iPhone and an iPod. This shows his love towards latest gadgets and also music in general. When sending out a marketing email to Mr. Y , Mr. X has to keep in mind Mr. Y’s preferences. Looking at his past purchase behavior it is not hard to decide how to personalize marketing to cater Mr. Y’s taste and convert the advertisement into a sale .
I hope you get my point. Marketing and advertisement can be personalized on the basis of past activities and what your customers are usually looking for. It might sound a little shady but it is mostly practiced by all large businesses. Keeping track of your consumers searches on your site and purchase behavior a personalized marketing strategy can be easily derived.
Benefits Vs. Lowdowns of Personalized Marketing
As you can see the immediate benefit of this kind of marketing is it will allow you to capture attention instantly. Since you are advertising items, services or products that the customers has been searching or buying you are directly promoting products/services that the customer is most likely to buy again.
Like everything else, personalized marketing as well has its good and bad. The good ofcourse being the fact that you might be able to generate sales again from the same client and keep him for life. Let’s talk about the lowdowns as there are certain things that we need to realize before we take this route,
- Cost: Personalized marketing will certainly cost more. Since you are catering to the needs of each one of your clients, the resources and time you put in will amount more than what it would other wise have been by taking a more general marketing tactic.
- Time: Personalizing your marketing means putting in more time. You will have to research each prospective customer to see the results. Although it’s worth doing, it depends upon the size of your business and how much you will get from your time investment.
- Resources: You will be using lot more resources that you would otherwise use. A mass mail sent to thousands of customers might take an hour but personalizing it based upon each customers taste will certainly require more resources.
Although there are some low downs to this approach, I personally am all for personalized marketing. Share your views on personalized marketing.

I appreciate your site. However, we have been marketing non-stop. Battling the market withcorporate giants like PepsiCo/Frito-Lay and P&G, it is very difficuilt tomake the slightest dent in the market. We never give up though and with your help, you might link http://www.potatofinger.com so that more people will be able to read our story.
