I am relatively new in the field of blogging, although I wouldn’t mind calling myself a survivor in the blogosphere. After the premature death of two of my blogs and a a new one rising slowly, I have been able to gather some thoughts and to do’s that I think might help others as well in generating a little bit of traffic. Things you read here might be something you already know and have already applied. I just felt the urge to let it out what I think is a good way to get traffic for all the bloggers out there.

Charity Starts At Home

When you start a blog the first thing you will notice is the dead traffic. You have written twenty posts within ten days and all in vain, whats the point in writing if nobody is reading it, right?

Well, here is the catch. Don’t remember your family and friends only when you need money or free beer. Sometimes they can be the biggest booster for your traffic as well. As the saying goes ” Charity Starts At Home”, go ahead and try this. Have them subscribe to your feeds, comment on your posts and you will see a steady stream of traffic. Also, if you have good content and you write well I bet they would promote your blog to others at work and home as well. Free advertising and a good way to start out on traffic.

Social Networking

So you think MySpace, Facebook and all other social networking sites out there are a waste of time eh? Think again. These sites have millions of users and those million users are all your potential visitors, so get out there and participate. Social networking sites can give you huge boost when it comes to gaining traffic. For those who haven’t heard of MillionEuroWiki.com and MillionDollarWiki.com you have got to check it out.

The concept of both pages are the same. Its like Wikipedia and you can buy a page on these sites with the word you like. I bought two names “Web” and “Domain Name”. The difference from Wikipedia is that the pages you buy on these sites are owned by the respective owners, and can be used as they please as long as it is not offending to anybody and does not contain any illegal or adult material. Also the content should be relevant to the name of the page.

This a good opportunity for investors as these sites will grow since its viral in nature. MillionDollarWiki has already sold 1020 pages in few weeks and is counting and MillionEuroWiki has sold 73 pages so far.

The other thing with these sites is you won’t really have to drive the traffic. Since your pages are within the site ( like Wikipedia ) if somebody comes to that site and is looking for a page where they can find info on domain name they can click on domain name and BAM… there you go, there is a visitor for you.

Personally, I think both the sites will hit big on the web. Also down the road you will have the opportunity to resell these pages as well. So go ahead and purchase one as the premium names are going away, this is a no brainer not to.
