Mofuse – Get your site mobile ready

As we all know, mobile browsing is growing in popularity by the minute. With phones like iPhone and Palm and other smart phones, browsing web through a mobile gadget has become a must for people on the go.

Most people or businesses do not seem to realize how important it is to get their mobile site ready. It probably was quite a work before, not anymore. Mofuse, a service that lets you turn your site into a mobile ready site is one of the most simple service I have used.
The process is simple, you log into your account and just follow the instructions like, add your URL and Page title and RSS feed ( if your site supports RSS feeds , if not you can skip this and still be able to creat one ). You can also add header images and choose different colors for your mobile site.

Now the part that might make you a little hesitant, when you get your site ready for the mobile devices, your URL won’t be the same as you would use on your browser. You have to pick an ‘id’ which integrates with mofuse’s Url and that now becomes the URL for your mobile site. For example:- the URL to this blog is http://www.worknplay.net/ and the URL for the mobile site created using Mofuse is http://m.mofuse.com/worknplay.

Besides that I think this service is very helpful for people who want to get their blogs or websites mobile ready. It’s a free service so using their URL for your site wouldn’t hurt much, as long as your site is not something people use excessively through their mobile phones and other mobile gadgets.

Why do you need this? Try opening your site on a mobile device and see how long it takes and how hard it is to navigate. Now create a mobile site using this service and see the difference. Share your comments here and lemme know what you think. Also this site is still in private Beta and I had an opportunity to get an invite. If you guys would like to try it out please leave your email address on the comment and I will send you an invite.

Diigo – Post sticky notes on sites you visit

I came across this site recently and I can definitely say it has made my browsing experience much more simplified and pleasurable.

Diigo is a social annotation site that lets you post sticky notes on a webpage so next time you visit the site you remember something that you would otherwise forget. Just like that post-it-note that you stuck on your computer to remind you of something. Think, you visited Work N Play and added it to your favorites and you didn’t visit the site for a month ( that is rude ) and when you eventually did you forgot something that you wanted to say or write or read on the site. This is where diigo comes in handy.

When you find a site and like it or have something you want to do later you can create a sticky post to remind you later, this sticky post stays on that site and you will be able to view it only when you browse the net by signing in to your diigo account. Also you can highlight texts on any site and add a note or remark as well.

Please see the screenshots:

A sticky note to remind me of what the site is about next time I visit

Highlighted text on a site that I found important will stay highlighted so next time I visit the site I know what I thought was important on that page

Diigo also offers a toolbar which makes this process even simpler. You can sign in from the toolbar and start browsing the internet as you usually do. Whenever you come across a site that you stuck a note onto, it will be displayed. To make it even easier once you post a note or highlight a text on a site, you don’t have to try to remember it as everytime you post a note or highlight a sites text it will be saved under My Bookmarks in the toolbar. So next time just click on My Bookmarks and you can get the list of all the sites that you used a sticky post to. You can import your favorites from your favorites folder as well.

I have been using this service for about a week and a half and I am loving it. It has given my aging mind some rest as I don’t have to try to remember some things because Diigo takes care of it for me.

Simicilio.us - Find related articles

Similicio.us is a search engine that finds related articles based on tags or bookmarks on Del.icio.us. If you find an interesting article, and want to explore what other similar articles are there on del.icio.us then this site is a must use. If you like an article, simply paste the URL and hit search, you will get results with related articles based on tags or bookmarks on Del.icio.us.

Also, I couldn’t get much more information on this site but from what I can see on the about page , it seems like this is a one man show. So, if you like what this website has to offer please send him an email and thank him for his effort. This is some neat application.

Voice Your Suggestion

We all have suggestions and opinions, be it for the cell phone service we use or the software product that we bought, or the city lake that only holds algae and no fish. Its suggestions from us, consumers or citizens that makes the product and services of a company rise or fall. On my quest to find a site to voice my opinion and suggestion I came across Should do this.

Should do this is a website that lets you voice your suggestion to companies, city officials or products. Yes, you can simply call the company or the product hotline but if you ever have you know it takes a while to get connected, and not to mention the hold after finally getting connected to a customer rep. The service this website provides gets rid of that, to a point.

Here is an exact quote from the website to give you a clear idea of what it is

We all have ideas for making things better. Ideas to improve a product, a company, your city, or just about anything in the world. Should Do This is the best suggestion box for getting your ideas heard. Suggest improvements for the world around you, see what others are suggesting and join the dialog of thinkers and tinkerers. Let people know what you think would make just about anything, better.

If you have any suggestion why not give it a try here. When you are frustrated, sometimes its just better to let it out and what better way to do that than using Should do this.

Make a list and Connect with others

This is one of those sites that I have fallen in love with. All the information and lists I have came across through this active community site is beyond words.

OnMyList, is a fun and active community site where you can create and share list with other members. What you actually do on this site is create a list of something, say “ Worst fashions ever “ and then share pictures and thoughts with other community members and get comments as well. Take a look at this link for instance, Onmylist Sample

To me, personally, its like a blog itself. Members start a list and post pictures and information about the particular lists. You can make comments on the list as well. All the lists are rated on the basis of popularity and so on.

I think this website can benefit bloggers as well. If you have good content on your blog and relevant posts, why not make a list and put it on here. One more way to get traffic and make yourself known to another active community.

Another Ebay Tool

It just seems like I keep finding applications for ebay although I don’t try to do this on purpose. Some programs are just so hard not to write or inform about, and this is one of them.

Auction Reminder is a nifty webservice that lets you add ebay auction reminders onto your google calendar. You will have to authorize Auction Reminder to get access to your google calendar though. This program becomes really handy as a fact that it allows you to get the reminders when you want to. If you want to be reminded of auctions only after 5:00 pm you will get notifications only after then.

Also, since you can add these reminders to your google calendar you can embed your calendar on your webpage or share with somebody else so they can see as well what you are interested in ( who knows, may be if you are outbidded, they will get it for you, never know ).

This is a very helpful service if you are someone who uses google calendar extensively and happens to be an ebay fan as well.
