ProductWiki - Wikipedia like site for products
Hi! It seems you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! Feel free to leave comments on posts!

ProductWiki resembles Wikipedia in the sense it offers exact same service but for product reviews. On this site, each user can review products and add their own reviews or edit reviews submitted by other users.

So, in a nutshell this site allows you to look at products that are reviewed by consumers, like us so you can get unbiased opinion and facts from other users. Also the reviews are divided into categories which makes it much easier to find a particular review on. Each product has a brief description which is followed by user edited pros and cons.

I found this site to be very informative as reviews come out from general users and not through sponsored results, which most of the time are biased. Think about it, if somebody wants to put an ad on my blog, I would be somewhat biased towards their products as they are paying for their ad to run on my blog. I loved this site and will be visiting regularly to see what people have to say about products that I am interested in, what about you?

I like the idea of this. As you said, you will get a review that is not biased. That is important!
I like the idea, too. Every time a catalog arrives or even a brochure for a worthy cause, I calculate how much producing the often slick, heavy-stock, four-color journal cost–before mailing. How much money could everyone save if most ads appeared on blogs and reviews and endorsements were available in one place when you were interested? A lot.
@Gerri - Yes an unbiased review is very important for all consumers so as to decide whether or not the product will provide the value for them
@kathleen - Exactly, if all the info and reviews can appear in one platform from users alike, it can save time and a lot of money as well
Wow. This is a great idea! Now why couldn’t I have thought of it?!
Good Idea !
Neat idea. I’m going to have to go check it out.
Thing I worry about though, is corporate folks going in and editing the reviews to make themselves look good.
Any idea if the site is implementing (or planning to) anything to prevent this or at least curb the inevitable influx of not-so-honest companies?
this sounds like a great idea to get ‘the average joe’s’ opinion of something you might buy. there are things i don’t want to buy without seeing what other people think. not *techies*, but real people!
and i like that it looks like it’s going to have a ‘get to the point’ interface.
nice one. thumbs up. both thumbs!
Hi all! I’m Erik from ProductWiki. Thanks for the kind words!
@Whimspiration: We’ve already seen some corporate “influx” but it’s easily thwarted by admins and the community; and as we’ve grown, the good guys only continue to outweigh the bad.
It’s often very easy to tell the difference between a shill and a real point of view. We’ve got a new IRC channel to help out when it’s not.
thanx for clearing it out Erik. Yes, with anything and everything there is going to be an abuse at some point in time.
Glad to know you guys are taking care of it.
Check out these exact same sites.
I like epinions a bit better actually
epinions.com
shopwiki.com
thanx for the recommendations Cena.
actually now that i look at it, shopwiki is different. same layout but different goal i guess.
