What Are They Digging On Digg
Digg is community based site that sets many trends in what’s hot or not when it comes to the news. The system is quite simple, an online news story is submitted to Digg, and if people like it they “digg” it. As an article receives diggs, it’s place in the site moves up giving it more exposure. There are no doubt positives and negatives to this system, but the main concern is — what are people digging?
According to this WebProNews article, a variety of things.
The most dugg article is one submitted by Kevin Rose, CEO of Digg. It involved some Blu-Ray/HD DVD encryption problem. Digg received a cease and desist order which led to a flurry of Digg users to show support for the site. Beyond that, most of what’s in the Top 10 belongs to stories concerning Barack Obama. He shares this space with a video showing off the Ninja Cat.
That’s what I love about Digg, it literally lets anything in. Ninja Cats, Barack Obama, useless Top 10 lists. Aslong as it can be listed through their system, everything is fair game.
