SCREEN PRINTING

Screen Printing an old school technique used by many companies and is still very popular today. Work & Play uses plastisol ink. For a small run, we can accommodate water-based prints. 

There are various factors to help you decide which medium works best for a project. Here is a basic list for this technique that might help...

You might want to use this method if:

  • there are only a few colors in your design (more colors=more screens=more $)

  • it requires one or two placements (front center, left chest, sleeve, etc.)

  • the quantity of order is higher

  • you like the look/feel of ink on garment

EMBROIDERY

Embroidery is the art of working raised and ornamental designs in threads with a needle. Polo shirts, hats, jackets, blankets (among other items) have typically been embroidered as a way to embellish an item

There are various factors to help you decide which medium works best for a project. Here is a basic list for this technique that might help...

You might want to use this method if:

  • artwork size & number of stitching is reasonable (i.e.-charge is usually by 5k stitches or more)

  • one or two placements (left chest for shirt, front center for hat, etc.)

  • the desired finished product requires only what embroidery can offer

  • you like the look/feel of embroidery on garment

This is a great way to print your garments. For your specific project, there may be a better way for your bottom line, turn-around time and/or product quality.

HEAT PRESS VINYL

Heat Press Vinyl is one of many heat-pressed techniques used by decorators. Work & Play employs heat press vinyl for certain projects; 1) more individualized and personalized items, or 2) special looks like glitter, glow-in-the-dark, or extra stretchy, to name a few. 

There are various factors to help you decide which medium works best for a project. Here is a basic list for this technique that might help...

You might want to use this method if:

  • you have a small quantity order

  • there are multiple placements (front, back, sleeve, etc.)

  • you need individualized (like a baseball team or bachelor/bachelorette party) items

  • a special look is required for the decoration only vinyl can supply

  • you like the look/feel of vinyl on garment

This is a great way to print your garments. For your specific project, there may be a better way for your bottom line, turn-around time and/or product quality.

DIRECT TO FILM

Direct to Film has won the hearts of many decorators and clients alike in recent years. With its durability, diversity and ease of application, the quality for price point on this print is hard to beat.

There are various factors to help you decide which medium works best for a project. Here is a basic list for this technique that might help...

You might want to use this method if:

  • there are multiple colors in your design & designs are intricate

  • there are multiple placements (front, back, sleeve, etc.)

  • the quantity of order is higher (for smaller size designs)

  • the quantity of order is lower (for larger size designs)

  • you have tight deadlines to meet 

  • you like the look/feel of direct to film application on garment

This is a great way to print your garments. For your specific project, there may be a better way for your bottom line, turn-around time and/or product quality.

DIRECT TO GARMENT

Direct to Garment is used for pieces you want to dye directly into the garment for a smooth and seamless feel. Examples of good candidates are when you want a picture or multi-colored image into wearable garment.  The better quality artwork, the better quality of your final product.  

There are various factors to help you decide which medium works best for a project. Here is a basic list for this technique that might help...

You might want to use this method if:

  • using 100% cotton garments for best result

  • utilizing one placement (front center, back center)

  • quantity of order is lower

  • you like the look/feel of direct to garment on product

This is a great way to print your garments. For your specific project, there may be a better way for your bottom line, turn-around time and/or product quality.
